Finally a few dopey and irresponsible Kiwis show up. Sad, because they are usually quite smart.

It looks like the moratorium is finished in NZ with regards to Transgenic, GE/GM Crops.  The most stupid thing i listened to on the radio was the excitement by some drongo about the future with transgenic potatoes.  This Galah was so happy that now they will be able to design potatoes especially for New Zealand.  Perhaps he should have learned where potatoes first came from.  If potatoes were brought directly from the home of potatoes ie, the western side of South America, they would in many cases be perfectly suited to NZ.  And, with just a little selective breeding they would be brilliantly suited to The Land of the Long White Cloud.

It is rather sickening to listen to some of these technicians being so ignorant and irresponsible about our genetic heritage, that all they can think of is tampering with and adding animal genes to plants and making them drug dependent, just because they can.  They make atomic bombs just because they can.  Sorry to say, but this is no different.  Altering the genetic structure of nature just so drug pushers can control it, without any ethical consideration for the long-term ramifications is highly irresponsible.

Must we listen to, and take the advice of a selected few genetic engineers – technicians who work for drug companies and who are prancing around and calling themselves experts.  Shouldn’t we be listening to the botanists and the biologists who are the real experts instead of these arrogant and ignorant technicians who want to meddle with the stuff of life?  There do seem to be many genetic engineers now coming out of the woodwork and speaking out against this outrage.  In the end there are always people who do have some principals.

What these genetic engineers and transgenic drug companies are doing, can never be reversed and even and idiot should be able to see that they do have and agenda.  Insurance companies will not touch genetic engineering.  So how responsible is it to force our kids down this path of no return.

What happened to the voices of the Concerned Mothers of New Zealand?  Latest figures from New Zealand are that 70% of the country is against any GE/GM Crops being planted there.  Their Prime Minister didn’t even listen to them.  But she did listen to the drug pushers.  Is Australia’s Prime Minister going to do the same?  Perhaps he will because they tell me he is a Good Christian Lawyer.
